A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Product Technologist for Accessories to join our technical team. The successful applicant will be a key member of the sourcing team; ensuring product quality developed meets & continuously improves with the Jaeger brand values of superb quality & affordable luxury. They will also support development of a robust supply base, working directly with suppliers to develop & manufacture products the Jaeger customer wants at a premium quality standard at an acceptable price.
1. Accountability: Contribute to product development initiating action to improve product quality & manufacturing methods. Action stringent testing and demonstrate up to date awareness of legal requirements across multi product. Promote a ‘Right First Time’ approach to sealing submission.
Impact: Maintains consistent premium quality standards, saving wasted time & energy
2. Accountability: Maintain continuity of performance and fit requirements on multiple product types across the supply base in line with differing fabrications and methods of manufacturing.
Impact: Ensures product consistency, driving sales growth through customer retention & increased confidence in the product.
3. Accountability: Advise & influence commercial standards during product development & production meetings in conjunction with other functions in the business i.e. Design & Buying.
Impact: Ensures product quality, efficiency maintaining sealing critical paths to enable premium product deliveries on time at the right price.
4. Accountability: Build close working relationships with all Suppliers & production staff.Work directly with Key Suppliers to ensure Jaeger QA standards are consistently met & exceeded.
Impact: A sharing of skills, encouraging partnerships with Key Suppliers in joint resolution of issues ensuring quality of brand is not compromised.
5. Accountability: Plan & implement effective use of technical ‘In-work’ visits where necessary across the supply base.
Impact: A sharing of skills, saving wasted time & energy
6. Accountability: Regularly review quality performance indicators. Work with the Quality Assurance Manager & Quality Control. Manager to analyse customer returns & delivery performance. Identifying generic & specific quality issues working with the Buying team & Suppliers to ensure recommendations are followed through.
Impact: Continuous evaluation of product standards identifies focus areas for product improvement. Reduction in customer returns
7. Accountability: Maintain an up to date understanding of the Jaeger customer profile and market place in which Jaeger operates. Regularly assess competitors making recommendations to ensure Jaeger is always innovative and competitive.
Impact: Ensures the brand is competitive & constantly innovates, develops & changes in line with the market.
The successful applicant will be expected to make day to day decisions on product development & product sealing to reflect flexibility to changing circumstances & ensure achievement of QA department objectives & business priorities. They will contribute to establishing ‘best practice’ for premium quality product. They will also be expected to propose imaginative new ways of overcoming obstacles.
The role involves attending regular weekly update meetings with Buying team to discuss any issues that effect agreed objectives and targets. Reference to the Senior technologist is required when any quality issues are discovered at any stage in the development or production of product which will affect critical path & delivery performance. The successful applicant will be constrained by the critical path determining priorities and dictation from Design & Buying of product design, and legal requirements in construction and technical performance.
This role is perfect for a strong Product Technologist, who has relevant qualifications in textiles apparel, has excellent multiple product knowledge and construction methods, and has manufacturing awareness in relevant product development area of a premium product retail business.
