About us
The Brand:
Crew Clothing Co. is a quintessentially English company that embraces and takes inspiration from all things British. Truly passionate about clothing made from the finest fabrics, with great attention to detail and design that creates an effortlessly relaxed style we pride ourselves on our wide and varied collection of casualwear and accessories for Men and Women.
In April 2007 we also launched our exciting new Boys & Girls range, for children aged between 3 and 12.
Our Heritage:
Crew started out in Salcombe in 1993, when founder and MD Alastair Parker-Swift was running a thriving windsurfing business during the summer months.
Deciding that it wasn’t an efficient use of space to have a small shop with just a diary in it, Alastair sourced rugby shirts, polo shirts and t-shirts in white and navy only, and started selling these directly from the windsurfing shop. After only 10 days of trading in Salcombe the decision was made to try and find premises in Cowes in time for the start of Cowes week. With only 1 week to go a shop in the midst of renovation was found, the builders encouraged to complete the work and stock sourced. The shop did in fact open in time for Cowes week and the Crew Clothing brand was born.
The first two Crew Clothing Co. shops, which were in seasonal locations, were closed during the winter months. For the first couple of years this enabled Alastair to continue to participate in the England freestyle ski team and spend each season in France. However, mid season in 1995 at the age of 26, a pang of conscience brought Alastair back to the UK to concentrate on building the Crew business. The first London store was opened on the New King’s Road a few months later, and the very first Crew offices were located beneath the shop.
Crew Today:
Today Crew has 43 stores across the UK and you can shop with Crew online (24 hours a day) or by telephone. Crew has a very exciting store roll out programme and as the Company continues to grow we are looking for talented individuals to join both our Retail and Head Office team, to support this continued growth and development.
